To really work efficiently and see the growth or even simply consistency you need to run a sustainable, profitable business, you absolutely need to set boundaries on your time and energy.

So in today's episode, we’re talking about exactly How to Protect Your Time by Saying No (without sounding like a jerk).

As a small business owner, you get a lot of different types of requests from a variety of sources and you’re a nice person so you say “yes” even when you need and want to say “no.”

  • You think saying yes to everything will mean more business.
  • You end up pulled in a million directions and feeling scattered.
  • Your productivity suffers.

Time that could be spent on your vision, goals, and revenue-generating activities goes down the drain because of other people’s requests.

Imagine how things could change if you knew exactly what to say to requests that aren’t the best use of your time without hurting anyone’s feelings or burning any bridges.

In this episode you'll learn how to:

  1. Say no graciously – you can say no and still communicate that you appreciate that they reached out/thought of you/sent an invitation.

  2. Blame it on your schedule – even if you realistically have “some space” the idea is you’re protecting your time and energy for the activities and tasks that light you up and actually need to get done.

  3. Refer them to your resources – granting requests is a great way to generate business and can be accomplished while still protecting your time. Refer them to your paid or free resources so they can keep in touch with you and familiarize themselves with your offers.

It is possible to maintain boundaries on your time and energy while also keeping relationships and building new ones.

This one's for the parents. Balancing work and family life is never easy but somehow we have this idea that we will feel less "mom guilt" as an entrepreneur because we have more control over our schedules.

Then reality sets in, you're busier than you thought you would be, and you find yourself questioning if you're spending enough time with them.

I travel a lot and I've had a lot of people asking if I experience mom guilt while I'm away.

So I'm diving in today to the strategies I use, both practical and mindset, for finding that elusive work/life balance without the mom guilt.

3 tips for overcoming working mom guilt:

1. I like to use the perspective that time spent with our kids is more about quality than quantity. I'm very intentional about using the time that I spend with my family to be fully present.

2. I'm very confident in the experiences we're creating for our family and part of that means honoring my own interests, including traveling and learning.

3. Don't compare yourself to others. This is a big one! Figure out what works for you when it comes to finding balance and overcoming the guilt.

Keeping that third point in mind, I hope this episode gives you some insight into how you can run your business successfully without sacrificing time and relationships with your kids. And be sure you listen to the end, because I have a special request.

It's possible to create company values that actually mean something and that can assist you in delegating responsibility to your team.

Maybe you don’t have established company values or you don’t know how to use them for anything significant. You might have just grabbed some words that sounded good and put them together. Maybe your team isn't aware of them or they don't play a part in your decision-making within your business.

3 key takeaways to listen for in this episode:

1. Two key factors that will guide you in choosing your best values.

2. Important ways you can use your company values for hiring, rewarding, and letting go within your team.

3. The exact way I use our company values to allow my business to run without me.

Company values should be the foundation of your decision making and be clearly represented within your team and your customer-facing work. I hope this episode gets you one step closer to making that your reality.

Stop micromanaging. It's truly a significant waste of your time and money. And yet so many small business owners find it difficult not to micromanage.

In today's episode, I'm sharing with you exactly how your micromanaging is costing you and more importantly what you can do about it.

I want to also say, if you find yourself micromanaging, don't be too hard on yourself about it. We've all been there. Micromanaging is a sign that your work is important to you and it matters that things get done to a certain standard. That's a good thing.

But you can channel that passion into productivity rather than micromanaging every little task.

Here are three important points I'm making in this episode:

1. What you risk losing if you continue micromanaging.

2. The number one reason you're probably micromanaging and what you can do instead to get the same results.

3. The system that allows progress to be tracked and holds team members accountable without micromanaging.

I hope this episode inspires you to realize that micromanaging starts with good intentions but it is costing you and helps you realize that there are steps you can put in place to create a system that works better for everyone.

Shifting from a ‘fixed’ to a ‘growth’ mindset takes intentional practice and time but makes a huge difference in the outcomes you experience. And once you start to practice, you will notice shifts right away.

It’s not a lack of knowledge holding you back. It’s your thoughts.

If you've ever found yourself thinking...

  • I’m not sure what to do
  • This is overwhelming
  • I’m not ready to systemize and scale...

...this episode will help you take massive action in keeping your mindset work a top priority.

When you do this you will grow the business in the way you've imagined and experience more time and financial freedom.

3 key takeaways from this episode:

  1. You can begin to shift your understanding that thoughts are not facts.
  2. You can believe that nothing will stop you.
  3. You can notice the thoughts that come up and change them.

If you want to grab a list of my top favorite mindset books to start making immediate progress in your mindset work journey, be sure to head over to the Scale Your Small Business Facebook group. On the posts there, comment MINDSET and I'll send you a list!

My most productive time is before everyone else is up for the day. I often get asked about my morning routine that sets me up for success. So in today's episode, I'm sharing exactly what I do in my morning routine as a 7-figure entrepreneur of multiple businesses.

This morning routine is all about getting in the right mindset to follow through with my intentions and take care of myself physically so I can be in peak performance mode as much as possible.

Three key elements of a successful morning routine:

1. A consistent wake-up time -- I'll share how I wake up early enough to take advantage of time before the kids are up but in a way that is gentle on our biological rhythms. Blaring alarm clock? No thank you. To get Stacy's wake up clock click here.

2. Hydration -- but first, water. I'll share why this is one of the first things I do and my thoughts on the bulletproof coffee trend.

3. Mindset -- I'll share the journaling and writing I do to commit to the priorities for the day and the unconventional way I write my intentions.

Does your morning routine need a reboot? I hope you'll try some of these tips to boost your productivity. I'm not perfect with this morning routine, of course. But I definitely feel the impact when I don't stick with it so I can guarantee it works.

People are always asking how I move so quickly and how I get new offers to take off so fast. Today I'm going to break down what that looks like.

I pay to get things done quickly because the internet moves at lightning speed, marketing messages change, offers need to change. You've got to keep up or by the time you've implemented something that strategy is out of date.

In today's episode I'm sharing all the ways that I pay for speed and why I make it a priority to invest in my business.

Three key points to listen for:

1. Where I make the choices to be reserved with my budget and where I refuse to settle for the cheapest option.

2. One of the most important investments I make is in my own growth and learning. I'll share the resources I buy and why it's so important.

3. How investing in a team makes a huge difference in getting things done quickly if you know how to do it effectively.

I want this episode to shift your perspective away from being unable to afford outsourcing or investing in professional development. If you're not paying for the ability to grow faster, you're paying for it in lost revenue.

There are so many reasons why an executive assistant needs to be your next hire. Today in this episode recorded from a live training in our Scale Your Small Business Facebook group, I'm sharing the top 3 reasons to hire an EA.

I always say if you don't have an assistant, you are the assistant.

You don't have time to be doing assistant level tasks. You are leaving money on the table setting your own appointments and checking your own email.

3 key takeaways from this episode:

  • Hiring a local executive assistant who can take on tasks in person has so many benefits. I'm sharing some examples of how my full-time EA helps support my business.
  • I'll share examples of what an executive assistant job description should look like so it will allow whoever steps into the role can grow along with it.
  • An understanding of the incredible ways your EA will save you time and even more importantly, how you should be using that time you'll be getting back.

Hiring an executive assistant is by far one of the best things I've done for myself and my business. I know this live training episode will show you why an executive assistant needs to be your next hire.

I've been getting a lot of questions about raising prices because of inflation. Raising our prices can be so difficult, but inflation is a very real thing right now, prices are going up everywhere so we shouldn't be afraid as small business owners to do the same.

In today's episode I'm addressing all the questions you have about whether or not to raise your prices because of inflation and how to go about it.

Three key takeaways from this episode:

1. One of the biggest questions I get is whether or not you need to make an announcement about raising your prices. I'm sharing my best advice here.

2. Another thing people worry about is making their current customers mad or losing business. I'll tell you exactly what you need to be considering to make sure this isn't a problem.

3. When you decide to raise your prices because of inflation there are some practical steps you need to take. I'll share with you exactly what you need to do.

Just like anything you decide to change in your small business, raising your prices can be intimidating. But I promise it will bring huge benefits to your bottom line. And during times of inflation, you can't afford not to.

Vulnerable share alert here. You might be surprised to find out that my biggest weakness is also one of my greatest strengths. If you've been around awhile, you know I'm a very driven person. I've received numerous awards for reaching milestones some people only dream of.

So how is this a weakness? I'm sharing it all with you here in this episode.

I'll go into more detail. But, turns out, that being driven also means I'm often left feeling unfulfilled or unsatisfied by my own success.

Three key points in this episode:

1. The words a friend shared with me as I reflected on my successes and the goals I've set for myself and narrowly missed. How we show up for ourselves in our thoughts matters and my friend's insight helped shift my perspective.

2. Why I feel it's important to share this insight and reflection with you. I know I can't be the only one who is always striving for more.

3. Some words of encouragement to help you (and me) appreciate and acknowledge the success we experience.

Whether you celebrate your milestones or like me you find it difficult to feel accomplished, I hope this episode inspires you to truly feel more appreciation for all of your wins.

In today's episode, we're going to get you from confused and overwhelmed about tracking metrics in your small business to clear and confident in the three most important areas and how to get started.

Many CEOs end up tracking tasks or responsibilities that don't really shed any light on the actual health and growth of the business. This mini training from our Facebook Live will change that so you are creating metrics that directly reflect your critical number.

Three key takeaways to look forward to:

1. The three most crucial areas in your business that need metrics.

2. How many items to track is reasonable.

3. Who needs to be responsible for metrics, how they get reported, and when.

Getting a handle on which metrics to track will get you well on your way to smoother operations and a clearer picture of where you need to adjust or revise your processes or marketing.
